Flooring Solutions Field Technician

Job Summary 

Flooring Solutions Field Technician will be responsible for assisting Account Managers with specific aspects of commercial flooring projects for the company. This includes but is not limited to, job walks to evaluate site conditions, supporting certain phases of installs, gathering information for change orders and resolving warranty repairs. This person must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Position will require regular jobsite visits and the ability to communicate and coordinate activities with contractors, property managers, end users, superintendents, installers and team members. Must use good judgment to resolve issues and address project and performance concerns to ensure projects are completed to the client’s satisfaction. 

Job Responsibilities

Quality Control. Work closely with Account Managers and subcontracted install supervisors to ensure projects are completed and client expectations exceeded. Attend project walks, regularly visit jobs sites, manage punch lists and attend final walks when directed by Account Managers. Provide regular updates to Account Managers and Install Supervisors.

Communication. Maintain shared calendar for Account Managers and company management to view and schedule site visits accordingly. Must be able keep a schedule and prioritize what can be accomplished. Communicate with contractors, property managers, end users and team members. Develop and maintain client/customer relationships.

Problem Solving. Use good judgment to resolve issues that commonly occur on job sites keeping the best interests of the project, client and company in mind. Assist Account Managers in gathering information for change orders and communicating expectations to the client.

Job Site/Warehouse Management. As needed, verify material quantities for installation, waste, overages, attic stock and patterns. Monitor material deliveries and warehouse pick-ups. Determine on-site material storage locations. Conduct deliveries and pick-ups of materials when needed. Serve as backup for Warehouse Manager.

Punch List/Warranty Work/Moisture Testing. Work with Account Managers and Install Supervisors to complete outstanding punch list items that may be holding up a job from completion or the collection of the balance due. Be willing to do small warranty work. Ex. seam repairs, small damages, hang base, install transition, etc. Ability to set and read moisture tests as needed.  

Required Skills and Experience

  • Installation and project management experience in commercial flooring

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized.

  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office. Outlook, Word, Excel. 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret finish plans, layouts and in house work orders

  • Must be able to make minor repairs. Hang base, install a transition, fix a seam, etc.

  • Ability to drive a forklift and perform warehouse/receiving duties

  • Bilingual preferred but not required

This is a salaried position and hours will vary based on project schedules. Must be willing to work extended hours, nights and weekends as project schedules dictate. Position is eligible for annual salary increases and bonus based on company/individual performance. Includes medical, dental and 401K benefits based on eligibility requirements. Includes use of company car (when available) and reimbursement for gas, tolls, parking and business-related expenses.
